About

A small Mac app, made in the open

CodeCatch reads your messages to find sign-in codes. An app like that should tell you who makes it, how it is built and what it never will do.

Who makes it

One person, working in public

CodeCatch is built and maintained by Uros Gazvoda. Every change is on GitHub, with the reason for it.

How it is built

Nothing hidden inside

A native Mac app, written in Swift, using only what macOS provides. There is no third-party code to audit and nothing that phones home.

  • Every code it misses becomes a test
  • Signed with a Developer ID, so macOS knows who made it
  • One build for Apple silicon and Intel

What it stands for

Four promises

Your codes stay on your Mac
No account, no server, no analytics. The privacy page lists everything it reads, keeps and connects to.
Open source
An app that reads your messages should be open to inspection. Read the code.
You stay in control
Nothing is opened or typed for you unless you ask. You paste the code yourself, on a page you chose.
It stays small
It will not add a cloud or tracking, and it will not read anything beyond Messages, your mail and the Bitwarden logins you import.

We also say where other tools are the better choice: CodeCatch vs 2FHey, CodeCatch vs MessAuto.

Found a code it missed?

Send the message with the code replaced by another number. It becomes a test.

CodeCatch is independent. It is not affiliated with Apple, Google or Bitwarden. Updated .
